OmniMesh today attended a meeting of the Syracuse Common Council’s Committee on Public Works, in anticipation of the city’s $38MM project to create the northeast United States’ largest Smart City deployment. More than 17,500 streetlights will be purchased by the City, each with 4G or better connectivity. The City’s plan is to create a network of sensors, cameras, and lighting controls, and to partner with private-sector businesses to enhance connectivity in neighborhoods, bridge the digital divide for the underserved, and create new revenue opportunities.
OmniMesh was the only local technology company represented at the meeting, and anticipates partnering with the City from the planning phase forward to deploy OmniMesh wireless mesh in the city.
